Research Objective:

This field of research aims at developing intelligent solutions based on artificial vision, covering image capture, image analysis and knowledge extraction.

The issues studied and developed are as follow: image captured prototypes oriented to industrial automation; image analysis algorithms based on non-linear processing, both in the domain of space and frequency; numerical segmentation techniques; segmentation approaches based on classification with supervised and unsupervised learning; and linear and non-linear modelling for the inference of variables of interest from characteristics extracted through image analysis. Among others, the activity and contributions of this field of research to the disciplines of biomedical engineering and precision agriculture are worth highlighting.
